The ministry of the church is built on the generous service of volunteers. This page provides links and information to some of the training available to volunteers.
Why a DBS Check Is Essential
At St Peter's and St David's Church, safeguarding is a core responsibility and a shared commitment. For any volunteer role that involves working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults, a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is a legal requirement under UK safeguarding legislation. Completing a DBS check helps ensure that we provide a safe, secure, and trustworthy environment for everyone in our church community. It also protects volunteers themselves by demonstrating transparency, accountability, and good safeguarding practice.
How to Complete Your DBS Check
Completing your DBS check is straightforward. Please begin by following the DBS application link here, which will guide you through the process step by step. If you have any questions, require support, or are unsure which level of check applies to your role, please contact Harry directly at harry@fleetwood.church, who will be happy to help.
Your cooperation in completing this process promptly is greatly appreciated and enables us to continue our ministry safely and responsibly.
It is important that all volunteers complete the safeguarding training required for their role. Please email harry@fleetwood.church if you are unsure what training you need to complete.
Basic, Foundation, Domestic Abuse and Safer Recruitment
Most safeguarding training is available online on the Church of England Training Portal. You will need to register an account and then complete the training.
Training can also be completed in person. Please look for Basic and Foundation Training here and Domestic Abuse Training here.
You will be emailed a certificate after each training you complete. Please forward these to harry@fleetwood.church to have this recorded.
Leadership
For those in roles requiring Safeguarding Leadership Training, this is completed either in person or on Zoom. Click here to book leadership training. Please email harry@fleetwood.church to record your completion once your trainer has confirmed that you have successfully completed this training.
